Hint: As we know, chemical bonds can be defined as the lasting attraction between atoms, ions or molecules which enables the formation of various chemical compounds. This bond is a result from the electrostatic force of attraction and repulsion in balance altogether between oppositely charged ions as in case of ionic bonds or by sharing of electrons as in case of covalent bonds.

Complete answer:
Let us discuss about chemical bond as follows:-
Chemical bond: It is defined as the lasting attraction between atoms, ions or molecules which enables the formation of various chemical compounds.
-The attractive force of interaction holds constituents like atoms and ions all in together and stabilizes them with the overall loss of energy. A compound will be more stable if the attraction between the atoms and ions is very strong.
-Since a lot of attraction would misbalance the whole composition of a compound. Therefore a balanced amount of repulsion force will also be required to counter too much attraction after a particular distance between two constituents.
-If the interaction force between the constituents is weak then the resulting compound would be less stable and more reactive. It would easily undergo any reaction so as to give a more stable chemical compound with stronger bonds.

Conclusion from the above data is that chemical bond implies: (C) Attraction and repulsion balanced at a particular distance.

Note:
-Remember that whenever the forces are attractive in nature, the energy tends to decrease whereas if the forces are repulsive in nature then the energy increases. Therefore a balance between both types of forces is must.
