Complete answer:In India, there is a total of 8 major industrial regions namely Mumbai-Pune Industrial Region, Hugli Industrial Region, Bangalore-Tamil Nadu Industrial Region, Gujarat Industrial Region, Chotanagpur Industrial Region, Vishakhapatnam-Guntur Industrial Region, Gurgaon-Delhi-Meerut Industrial Region, and Kollam-Thiruvananthapuram Industrial Region. But major Hinterland ports are developed in Kolkata, Mumbai, and Chennai region because, in the Mumbai region, the growth of this industrial region is fully connected with the growth of the cotton textile industry in India. As the coal was far removed, hydel power was developed in the Western Ghats, as there was cheap labor and was prominent to raw materials. Whereas Kolkata-Haora sets the nucleus of the region. It is very well- connected by the Ganga and its tributaries with the prosperous hinterland of Ganga-Brahmaputra plains. Moreover, navigable rivers, roads, and railway's furnished subsequent links to the enormous advantage of Kolkata port. Due to the easy availability of raw materials and cheap labor and also the availability of sea region as well as river availability the Chennai port is also considered to be one of the best industrial regions.
