Hint: A chemical reaction is the conversion of reactants into products. The reactants are starting materials and the products are desired compounds. There are different types of chemical reactions including synthesis, decomposition, single displacement, double displacement and combustion reactions.

Complete answer:
A chemical reaction is the conversion of reactants into products. There are five types of chemical reactions. They are combination reactions, decomposition reactions, displacement reaction, double displacement reaction and combustion reactions.
1. Combination reactions: are also known as synthesis reactions. Two or more reactants combine to form a new compound called a product.
$ 2Na + C{l_2} \to 2NaCl $
2. Decomposition reactions: are the reactions in which a reactant decomposes into two compounds i.e.., products.
$ CaC{O_3} \to CaO + C{O_2} $
3. Displacement reactions: are reactions in which one atom from one compound displaces to form another compound. The atom in one molecule bonded with another molecule.
$ CuS{O_4} + Zn \to ZnS{O_4} + Cu $
4. Double displacement reactions: are reactions in which two atoms from two compounds displace to form new compounds. The two atoms from two compounds displace into another and form new compounds.
$ HCl + NaOH \to NaCl + {H_2}O $
5. Combustion reactions: are reactions in which the hydrocarbons burned in presence of oxygen gas to form new compounds along with carbon dioxide and water vapour. Methane reacting with oxygen is called a combustion reaction.
$ C{H_4} + 2{O_2} \to C{O_2} + 2{H_2}O $

Note:
The single displacement and double displacement reactions are of the same type, but the change is at only the displacement of atoms from one molecule or compound to another molecule. The main products in combustion reactions are carbon dioxides and water vapour.
