 After getting almost all of Rajasthan, from Chitorgarh to Rahtambhor under his suzerainty in 1569, Akbar’s next objective was to conquer Gujarat and Bengal as these two states had connections with the trading world of Asia, Europeans Africa. The conquest of Gujarat happened as the two nobles of Gujarat, Ahmad Shah III and Mahmud Shah III started fighting among themselves. This news was brought to Akbar. Mughal troops advanced to Patan and Jotana where they won over the region and the life of the ruler was granted, putting him under the charge of Karam Ali, a Mughal noble. When the Mughal army reached Kadi, he imprisoned opposing nobles, Álaf Khán and Jhujhár Khán Habshi. From Ahmedabad, he advanced to Khambhat.
