Hint: The Cripps Mission was a failure in March,1942 by the British Government which supported efforts in World War II and this mission was held by Sir Stafford Cripps.

Complete answer:
Cripps belonged to the left-wing Labor Party and is traditionally sympathetic. Prime Minister Winston Churchill was the leader to block the Independence of India. During the second world war Britain was not in that condition that they could fight with their slave nations so they tried to convince Indian national congress by sending the Cripps mission to India. Cripps was sent to make an agreement with the National Congress Party. Majority of the leaders supported Hindu population, whereas Muhammad Ali Jinnah and his leagues supported the Muslim population. Cripps worked for his promise of the elections and supremacy after the war and made India loyal to the Britishers.

Therefore the correct answer is option (C).

Note:
Cripps published his discussed letters with the Indian Leaders. His proposal was rejected by both the parties and also by Churchill. So this mission was a failure.
