Have you ever seen a frog closely? Frogs are four-legged interesting creatures that are commonly heard croaking in the rainy season. So what do they eat while hopping from one muddy puddle to another? Well, small worms, insects, spiders, small fishes, or even tiny snails serve as their food. Frogs are of various colours and sizes, some have intriguing patterns while some have broad speckles on their skin.

These amusing creatures have been portrayed in several fairy tales and poems. Here’s a fun poem, ‘Five Little Speckled Frogs’ that is a favourite among kids. In this poem, five little frogs, who had speckles on them, sat together on a log to eat up some worms, but after a while, they could not be found on the log. Where did they just go? Let us read the poem to know where the little frogs vanished.

Five Little Speckled Frogs Lyrics

Five little speckled frogs,

Sat on a speckled log,

Eating some most delicious bugs.

Yum yum!

One jumped into the pool,

Where it was nice and cool,

Then there were four speckled frogs.

Glub glub!

Four little speckled frogs,

Sat on a speckled log,

Eating some most delicious bugs.

Yum yum!

One jumped into the pool,

Where it was nice and cool,

Then there were three speckled frogs.

Glub glub!

Three little speckled frogs,

Sat on a speckled log,

Eating some most delicious bugs.

Yum yum!

One jumped into the pool,

Where it was nice and cool,

Then there were two speckled frogs.

Glub glub!

Two little speckled frogs,

Sat on a speckled log,

Eating some most delicious bugs.

Yum yum!

One jumped into the pool,

Where it was nice and cool,

Then there was one speckled frog.

Glub glub!

One little speckled frog,

Sat on a speckled log,

Eating some most delicious bugs.

Yum yum!

He jumped into the pool,

Where it was nice and cool,

Then there were no speckled frogs.

Glub glub!

Did you enjoy reading the poem? Well, go through the easy summary of Five Little Speckled Frogs given below for a better understanding.

An Easy Summary of the Poem

The poem tells us about five tiny frogs. All of them had identical speckled skin. One day, the five little frogs were sitting on a wooden log. Much to their delight, the log had similar speckles as them. The frogs had a feast on the log, enjoying some mouth-watering bugs.

After a while, one frog jumped into the pool below, where the water was cool and nice. So, there remained four little speckled frogs on the log. They made a gurgling sound glub, glub. The four little frogs ate some more delicious bugs, and then another of them jumped into the pool. So, three of them remained on the log.

The three little frogs ate some more bugs and one of them jumped into the pool after some time. Similarly, after having a little more of those delicious bugs, another of them jumped into the pool.

So, only one last little speckled frog remained on the speckled log. Seated on the log, he gulped down more bugs and later he too jumped into the pool of cool and nice water. They made the gurgling sound ‘glub, glub’ after each of them jumped into the pool.
