KVPY Syllabus For SA

The topics and the chapters from class X and Class XII are included in the KVPY SA syllabus for the steam of SA. Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics are the four main subjects that are covered in the SA stream.

• Chemistry: States of Matter: Gasses and Liquids, Classification of Elements and Periodicity in Properties, Environmental Chemistry, Chemical Reactions, Metals and Nonmetals, Periodic Classification of Elements, Acids, Bases and Salts, Basic Concepts of Chemistry, Thermodynamics, Carbon Compounds,

• Physics: Physical World and Measurement, Gravitation, Thermodynamics, Magnetic Effects of Current, Sources of Energy, Reflection, Refraction, Electromagnetic Induction, Applications in Daily Life, Kinematics, Laws of Motion, Work, Energy, and Power.

• Mathematics: Geometry, Introduction to Trigonometry, Statistics, Quadratic Equations, Probability, Surface Areas, and Volumes, Coordinate Geometry, Mathematical Reasoning, Statistics and Probability, Trigonometric Functions, Real Numbers, Polynomials.

• Biology: Control and Coordination in Animals and Plants, Heredity and Evolution, Reproduction, Life Processes, Our Environment, Plant Physiology, Diversity of Living Organisms, Cell: Structure and Function, Human Physiology.

The KVPY exam is the National program for scholarship in sciences. This initiative was started by the Government of India to motivate the students who are interested in pursuing a career in research in the science field.

This exam hopes to recognize the students who have the talent and capacity for a research career. These exams and their preparation encourage the students in this field. The fellowship details will be notified in the national dailies. Students interested should be attentive and follow newspapers closely for further information.

The eligible students from class XI  to undergraduates (from any stream) will be selected. Later, they would be called for interviews based on the aptitude test. The marks of the aptitude test and the interview both are considered to grant the fellowship.

For effective preparation, without stress students must prepare a proper study plan which ensures each subject is given sufficient time. Smart planning and following it regularly will help to crack the exam easily. 

After understanding the syllabus and the exam pattern it is easier to plan a day-to-day timetable that allows sufficient time to cover the subject and then revise. Another important thing to remember while studying is to study with complete focus.

Being aware of one’s weak and strong points is essential. This helps to work towards improvement and is also an essential aspect of the preparation for the exam. 

Once you start the preparation, it is very important to revise every day. Revision is not just to be done right before the exam. It is a continuous process in studies and should be done every day. Your preparation will not be of any use if you don't revise as you might forget the topics you have already studied.  To study the syllabus again is a waste, so remember to be smart with your preparation. You cannot afford to waste any time.

Since the syllabus is vast and it is not possible to have a proper revision of all the subjects every day. So the best method would be to have a good plan of revision strategy as you have made a study plan and revise accordingly. This will help you with the perfect revision.

Preparing notes is also one of the essential parts of the study plan. While you read the chapters make a note of the important points and topics. You can give the title for each topic and highlight them. This will help to go through your notes with ease when you are looking for something particular.  You will be truly thankful for this clarity during your revision.

Preparation Tips

Once the syllabus is completed and you are confident, it is time to evaluate and check the level of the preparation. Solve a mock test and the previous year question paper. While solving the question paper make sure to keep track of the time. Solving the papers and the mock test will help you with better time management skills and also writing skills.

One of the important last-minute tips for the exam is that don't learn any new topic. As new topics will require more time and sometimes it might happen that you are not able to understand. This might lower your confidence. So whatever you have studied, revise them perfectly so that you can confidently answer the questions based on those sections.

Go through your notes and the important questions and the topics. Be positive and calm. Be sure to get your required hours of sleep and take enough breaks to ensure the preparation stage doesn’t break your determination.
