Prepositions

A preposition is a word that comes before a noun (or a pronoun) to indicate the relationship between one item or person and another.

Example:

• Ram is heading to work.

• The table has a pen on it.

• Dia will arrive in two hours.

A preposition is a word that links a noun, pronoun, or noun phrase to another section of the sentence by indicating direction, location, or time, or by introducing an object.

1. Used to designate days of the week and dates.

Example: 

Ayush's birthday is on 8th January.

My grandparents are arriving on Thursday evening.

2. Used to name streets, roads, avenues, etc.

Example:

My home is on an expressway.

3. Used to state the surface of something.

Example: The red copy is on the bench.

4. Used to specify a device or a machine.

Example: Anu has been functioning on the computer since morning.

5. Used to specify the part of the body.

Example: He hit me on my head.

6. Used when we talk about the state of something.

Example: This bike is on sale.

1. Used to specify a definite time.

Example: The train will reach the station at 2:00 p.m.

2. Used with a particular place.

Example: People gathered at the park.

3. Used to point out any activity.

Example: I'm good at dancing.

In

1. Used for undefined times during each day, month, season, or year.

Model: Ravi started his business in 2015.

2. Used  to  specify the location's name or place such as cities, towns, states, countries, continents, etc.

3. Used to specify a shape, colour, or size.

Example: I bought ribbons in several colours.

4. Used to specify a faith, view, interest, or feeling.

Example:  I think about life in phases after and before death.

Example: My mom is driving us to the amusement park.

1. Used to specify how long anything continues i.e. duration  of your time  in seconds, minutes, hours, days, months, years).

Example: Tia can hold her breath for five minutes.

The speech will only require your presence for an hour.

1. Used to specify the time from a selected point until now.

Example: Amar has been reading here since 9:00 am.

Of

1. Used to specify an amount or a number.

Example: I drank 3 cups of coffee yesterday.

2. Used to show belonging to or connected with.

Example: This bag that my sister bought for me has been of great use.

With

1. Used to show feeling or emotion.

Example: Ria acted with great confidence.

2. Used to indicate usage of something.

For example, Cook is cutting vegetables with a knife.

3. Used to indicate possession.

Example: People with less money aren't always unhappy.

4. Used to indicate togetherness.

Example: Attendants are going to be with you shortly.

5. Used to show understanding.

Example:  Does anyone agree with me?

1. Used to indicate something extending directly upwards from something.

Example: A Kite is flying over a tree.

2. Used to express more than the estimated amount.

Example: Ravi’s results were over my expectations.

3. Used to indicate period

Example: I worked at this school for over a year.

4. Used to show some movement.

Example: His brother sent over a box full of gifts on his birthday.

Example: We are going to Delhi by aeroplane.

2. Used to indicate closeness.

Example: ATM is by the mall.

Used to indicate group or mass or the collection or in the middle of something.

Example: The sweets are distributed among five folks.

Beside 

Beside

Used to show “near to” or “after”.

Example: Dia is sitting beside me.

Besides

Example: Three girls besides Dia were twiddling with sand beside the sea.

Below 

This is Used to express measurement or to express something that is not below one another.

Example: Tinku is performing below average.

Under

Used to express anything just below it or less than it.

Example: Pen is lying under the bed.

Against

Used to show disagreement.

For example, we should always not do anything against the law.
