A circle is a plane figure with a curved surface. Every point on the circle is equidistant from the circle's center, which is a single point.  A circle is a two-dimensional shape with a radius measurement.

A circle is a two-dimensional shape created by a set of points in the plane that are separated by a constant or fixed distance (radius). The fixed point is the origin, or center, of the circle, and the radius is the fixed distance between the points from the origin.

The following are the main components of a circle:

  • Circumference: The circumference of a circle, also known as the perimeter of a circle, is the distance around the circle's perimeter.

  • Radius: A circle's radius is the distance between its center and any point on its circumference. A circle has numerous radii because they are the distance from the center and touch the circle's perimeter at different locations.

  • Diameter: A diameter is a straight line that links two points on the circle's periphery and passes through its center. It's important to remember that the circle might have numerous diameters, but they must all:

  1. go straight through the middle

  2. be made up of straight lines

  3. At two locations, touch the circle's boundary.

  • Cord: Any line segment touching the circle at two different locations on its perimeter is called a chord of circles.

  • Tangent: A tangent of a circle is a line that intersects the circle at a single point.

  • Secant: In circles, a secant is a line that crosses two points on an arc/circumference of a circle.

  • Arc: A curve is a segment or portion of a circle's circumference that is referred to as an arc of a circle.

  • Segment: A segment in a circle is defined as the area enclosed by the chord and the associated arc in a circle. Minor segments and significant segments are the two sorts of segments.

  • Sector: The region contained by two radii and the associated arc in a circle is referred to as the sector of a circle.
