  • Part 1- Mapwork consists of Interpretation of Topographical Maps like the location of features through four to six-figure grid reference; definition of contour and contour intervals; identification of landforms marked by contours, triangulated height, spot height, benchmark, relative height/depth; Interpretation of colour tints and conventional symbols used on a topographical survey of India map; marking directions between different locations (using eight cardinal points); identify the site of prominent villages and/or towns, types of land use/land cover; Identification of drainage and settlement patterns and Identification of natural and man-made features.

  • Part II- Geography of india consists of Location and Extent of Physical features (only through maps); Climate (Distribution of Temperature, Rainfall, winds of Summer and Winter and factors affecting the climate of the area, Monsoons and its mechanism, etc.); Soil Resources (Types of soils and their characteristics and Soil erosion); Natural Vegetation (Importance of forests, Types of vegetation, Forest conservation); Water Resources (Sources, Need for conservation and conservation practices and Irrigation importance and methods)
