Hint: Rusting is a familiar word for us. You can relate with our daily life examples. The main thing is to keep moisture away from metal or iron. There is a chemical reaction between oxygen and water and this leads to rusting of iron.
Complete step-by-step answer:
We all are familiar with rust. Rusting of gate, rusting of grill, rusting of iron utensils, rusting of iron and many more. We have a festival called Diwali. On Diwali time we usually paint all our gates and things made up of iron. Again if you will notice then we usually paint iron utensils before the rainy season. Why do we all do this? Why do we paint iron? We simply know rusting is the reason. But what happens while rusting and why do we always paint before the rainy season. We will see further. There are many ways to prevent rusting of iron. Two of them are given below:
1. We all are familiar with paint. Paint iron or meal with pain which has acrylic in it. Paint with water soluble will damage the metal and lead to get more rust. So do not use water soluble paint.
2. If you will notice then paint has oil which you can see if you will look in sunlight. This means that use of oil significantly reduces rusting or iron or any metal. Grease is also one of the types of oil. We can also use grease like oil. Oil produces a protective layer on metal and hence iron will not get directly in contact with water or air or oxygen.
Note: Till now we know the advantages of coating on iron and we know the need of preventing iron. But what happens while rusting? A reaction happens between metal and oxygen and leads to rusting of iron. Particularly in the rainy season, water settles down on iron. There is a reaction between water and oxygen. This reaction causes rusting of iron.
