Hint: The planet that is made up of silicate rock or metals are said to be ‘terrestrial planets’. The word terrestrial planets are derived from the Latin word ‘terra’. ‘Terra’ means earth. The planets which are earth-like in nature that are similar in structure and composition of the earth are said to be ‘terrestrial planets’. The terrestrial planets are alternatively called ‘telluric planets’ or ‘rocky planets’.

Complete answer:
The planets Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars are said to be terrestrial planets because they have rocky and compact surfaces similar to Earth’s terra firma. The four innermost planets of the solar system are said to be ‘terrestrial planets’.Terrestrial planets have topological features such as valleys, mountains, craters etc. on their surface.

Terrestrial planets have no satellites or few satellites of their own. For example: Mercury and Venus have no satellite, Earth has one satellite and Mars have two satellites.Terrestrial planets can further be categorised into coreless planets, silicate planets, iron planets and carbon planets.

The following planets are said to terrestrial planets:
-Mercury
-Venus
-Earth
-Mars

Note:Terrestrial planets can also be classified into solar terrestrial planets and extrasolar terrestrial planets. Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars are said to be solar terrestrial planets whereas planets that lie outside the solar system and have similar properties to terrestrial planets are known as extrasolar terrestrial planets.
