Hint: Amoeba is a single celled organism that takes its food from its surroundings by extending finger-like structures from protoplast and this is known as pseudopods. It has the ability to change its shape and does not have a fixed structure.
Complete answer:
Amoeba is a single celled or unicellular organism which has the ability to change its shape by pseudopods and can reproduce by many methods like spores, binary fission and sexual reproduction.
But most commonly amoeba reproduce through asexual reproduction mode that is, binary fission.
Binary fission is a mode of asexual reproduction in which a single organism give rise to genetically identical organisms can be called as clones. In this process, the parent cell duplicates its genetic material and then it divides into two cells by the process known as cytokinesis that is division of cytoplasm.
In binary fission, the parent cell divides to double its original size then the genetic material which gets doubled by replication is moved to two opposite ends of the cell. Then proteins like FtsZ are involved in the initiation of the separation of the cells. They get attached to the replicated genetic material and then start cytokinesis.
Note: In this process of reproduction an organism never dies it just gets converted into two new individuals through mitotic divisions and forms clones of the previous organisms. The chances of variation among these organisms get reduced as they do not undergo overlapping or crossover but as the life cycle is very small thus, they can undergo mutation very easily.
