Hint: Bauxite ore is the ore which consists of the high amount of aluminium content. The impurities present in the bauxite are the oxide of the element which have the atomic number of 26 and 16. They are separated to get a pure form of aluminium.
Complete step by step answer:
- In the given question, we have to tell the name of any two impurities which are found in the bauxite ore.
- Now, as we know that bauxite is the ore through which we can extract the aluminium element which has an atomic number of 13.
- The molecular formula of bauxite is \[\text{A}{{\text{l}}_{2}}{{\text{O}}_{3}}.7{{\text{H}}_{2}}\text{O}\] which consist of aluminium in the form of alumina.
- In bauxite, along with aluminium, other elements are also present which are regarded as impurities.
- The impurities found in the bauxite ore are iron oxide, silica, titania, etc.
- The percentage of alumina in bauxite is 35 to 65%, the percentage of silica, $\text{Si}{{\text{O}}_{2}}$ is 0.5 to 10% and the percentage of iron oxide $\text{F}{{\text{e}}_{2}}{{\text{O}}_{3}}$ is 2 to 30%.
- When the concentration of iron oxide is large in the ore, then it is considered as red bauxite whereas if the concentration of silica is large the ore is considered as the white bauxite.
Therefore, iron oxide and silica are the two impurities of the bauxite ore.
Note: The extraction of the bauxite can be done by the process such as Bayer's process and Hall- Heroult's process. In Bayer's process, the production of aluminium oxide takes place after which in Hall- Heroult's process it pure aluminium is extracted by the smelting method. It is widely used in the electric industry, aeroplane making industry, etc.
