The important features of democracy can be defined as follows:
a. Democracy reflects a ‘free and fair processes and procedures’. It is the form of government which does not give in to the power dynamics of the societal sphere. It aims to reduce the inequalities between different sections of the society.
b. The democracy also aims towards the active participation of the citizens in the political process. The ‘political participation and representation’ of each and every section of the society is an important feature of democracy. The most primary example of such political participation and representation are ‘elections’.
