Hint:Rectilinear motion is also known as linear motion. It is a one dimensional motion and thus it requires only one coordinate axis to describe the motion. Circular motion is the motion of an object around the circumference of a circle. When motion is repeated in a certain interval of time then this motion of the object is known as periodic motion. The motion which is both circular and periodic is known as circular and periodic motion.
Complete answer:
A.Rectilinear motion: When an object moves around a straight line then the motion of the object is known as rectilinear motion. Therefore in this type of motion we require only one coordinate axis with time to describe the motion of the object. For example: Kids sliding down from the slide, the motion of lift while going up and down.
B. Circular motion: When an object moves on the path of circumference of a circle, then the motion of the object is known as circular motion. Circular motion can be rotated on its axis.
For Example: Planets do circular motion, wheel of bicycle is in circular motion while pedaling.
C. Periodic motion: When an object repeats the same position after a regular fixed interval of time then the motion of such an object is known as periodic motion. For Example: vibrating tuning fork, pendulum of clock.
D. Periodic and circular motion: When the object performs circular motion and returns its original origin in a fixed equal interval period of time then the motion of the object is known as periodic and circular motion. For Example: Blades of running fan, hands of clock, wheel of motorcycle.
Note:Circular motion can be performed on its own axis as performed by planets while rotating on its own axis. Periodic motion can take a large interval of time but the interval is fixed like the hands of a clock. Rectilinear motion is single dimensional motion of an object therefore in three dimensional it may not be treated as rectilinear motion.
