Complete answer: Indian Peninsular plateau is divided into two major halves i.e. Central Highlands and Deccan Plateau. The part of Peninsular plateau lying towards the north of the Narmada river which covers the major areas of the Malwa Plateau is known as the Central Highlands. Aravalli range is towards the northwest direction of the Central highlands which passes from Delhi to Haryana, Rajasthan and Gujarat and on the south, there is Vindhya range which covers the Satpura Range. The Central Highlands are wider in the west and narrower in the east.
The Chambal river, the Betwa river, the Sind river and the Ken river flows from Southwest to Northeast which indicates the slope.
The east extensions of the plateau are known as Bundelkhand and Bhagelkhand further the Chotanagpur plateau towards the extreme east drained by the Damodar river.
Central Highlands is a tableland of uneven surface, from 1500 to 2500 ft above the sea. It has fertile lands which help us to grow a variety of crops.
The Satpura stretch which is the part of Central Highlands includes Rajpipla Hills, Nimar Plateau, the Pachmarhi Hills and the Mahadeo Hills.
