The Night our bus broke down

Last week, our school had organized a trip to Shimla for the seniors. My friends and I had decided to go as it was our last school trip. So, we submitted the forms and the money and eagerly started waiting for the trip. Soon, the day came and we all boarded the school bus for Shimla in the evening. We had a lot of fun on the way, we ate a lot of snacks, sang songs and played games. Finally, we reached the early hours of the morning and were taken to our hotel. We all rested for a while and woke up for breakfast and trekking. It was a fun day as we got to enjoy the marvellous view and the chilly weather. Later in the evening, we visited the mall road and ate traditional Himachali food. However, nobody was aware of what was going to happen with us. As soon as we boarded the bus and started proceeding towards the hotel, our bus broke down. Everybody started looking around and wondered, what was happening. The driver announced that one of the tires was punctured. We felt a little relieved and started playing games. I was looking outside the window and noticed that we were in the middle of a secluded forest and it was dark outside. I started noticing the trees and the darkness, when I saw some bushes moving, for a while I thought I was hallucinating but I rubbed my eyes and still saw them moving. So, I asked one of my friends to look at the bush, we both were horrified when we heard a loud cry. Everyone got quiet and started looking outside, the driver ran inside the bus and locked it. Luckily, the tire had been fixed. But we had to maintain silence for the animal to not feel threatened. Hence, we kept quiet and noticed that the animal was no other than a mountain dog. We all laughed and had a lot of fun that day.

Note: One should write a story in the past tense form because we are narrating an incident that has already happened.
