The first car was invented by Nicolas Joseph Cugnot in 1769.
Nicolas Joseph Cugnot is credited with building the first full scale, self propelled mechanical car.
Nicolas created a steam powered tricycle.
 The vehicle designed by Nicolas Joseph Cugnot is designed in order to move artillery pieces, moved at a walking place and it had to stop every 20 minutes in order to build a new head of steam.
But his inventions were handicapped by the problems with water supply and maintaining steam pressure.
