In the first Anglo- Gurkha war fought between Nepal and East India company, English defeated Amar Singh Thapa.Anglo- Nepalese war took place between the East India company that is present day India and the Kingdom of Gorkha, which is the federal democratic republic of Nepal in present days. This war continued for around 2 years starting from 1 November 1814 and lasted till 4th March 1816. Both the opponents plans of expanding the mountainous area in north of the Indian subcontinent.This war was led within support from native States of India against the kingdom of Gorkha by a private company EIC that had very close ties with the British Empire. These native States included Patiala state ,Garhwal kingdom and kingdom of Sikkim. Thapa kaji mostly led the war on the side of the kingdom of Gorkha. The war ended in 1816 with the signing of treaty of sugauli between the British Indian Government and The Gorkha chiefs of Nepal This treaty gave up some of the controlled Nepalese territory to the EIC all the claims to the disputed Tarai were pronounced by Nepal.
