Hint: Bile is produced by the liver which is responsible for emulsification of fats that is to separate the fat globules to enhance lipase activity. Bile produced by the liver is stored in gallbladder until released.
Complete answer:
Bile secreted by the hepatic cells passes through the hepatic ducts and is stored and concentrated in a thin muscular sac called the gallbladder. The duct of Gallbladder that is a cystic duct along with the hepatic duct from the liver forms the common bile duct. The bile, pancreatic juice and the intestinal juice are the secretions released into the small intestine. The bile released into the duodenum contains bile pigments that are bilirubin and biliverdin, bile salts, cholesterol and phospholipids but no enzymes. Bile helps emulsification of fats that is breaking down fats into very small micelles. Bile also activates lipase, fats broken down by lipase with the help of bile into di and monoglycerides. So, considering the statement asked we can say that the bile is necessary for fat digestion, it is stored in gallbladder but it is not only important for normal sugar digestion it has other functions also.
So, from above discussion it can be concluded that the correct answer is option C.
Note: When we eat, our body signals gallbladder to empty bile (composed of bile acids, phospholipids, cholesterol, electrolytes and water) into the duodenum to mix with the food which is carried by bile duct. Thereby in a very systematic manner it aids in the process of digestion.
