Hint: The state is very fertile and is ideal for growing wheat, rice, sugar cane, fruits and vegetables. It is also ‘India’s wheat basket.’ It’s agriculture contributed majorly to the economy.

Complete answer:
Punjab ka located in the north west of India. It is one of the most prosperous states of India, and is often referred to as the ‘Granary of India.’ This was because of the huge production of food crops that comes from it.
The word Punjab comes from the Persian words Panj (five) and ab (rivers) which approximately means "Land of Five Rivers" and includes rivers such as Sutlej, Beas, Ravi, Chenab and Jhelum. What makes Punjab extremely fertile is the soil it is. From the five rivers, there is ample alluvial soil which is considerably very good for agricultural purposes.
The state is a paradise for those who love food. It is home to nutty, long-grain basmati rice, spicy curries, and has been able to nurture much of India’s wheat on the account of deriving most benefits from the green revolution of the 1960s. It not only successfully produced and contributed wheat to the Central pool of foodgrain, but also sent 44 per cent of the ration being distributed by the Union Government to the poor and needy in 2020.
The state has produced 10.26 percent of the country's cotton, 11 percent of rice and 19.5 percent of India's overall wheat.

Hence, the correct answer is option (C).

Note:Punjab became the first state in the country to prepare a soil-fertility map of the landholding of each farmer by using the Global Positioning System. This map shall highlight the deficiency of nutrients in each agricultural landholding. This gives a great incentive to further improve the productivity of Punjab and retain India's ‘food basket’ position.
