Hint: A water divide is an elevated land that separates two neighbouring drainage basins. River Yamuna is a tributary of Ganges whereas river Sutlej is a tributary of Indus.
Complete answer: River Satluj rises in Tibetan Plateau. The Sutlej first joins the Beas at Harike and then enters Pakistan to join the Chenab and form the Panjnad which ultimately joins Indus. This tributary of Indus empties itself in Arabian sea. Yamuna on the other hand , rises in Yamunotri Glacier and joins Ganga at Prayagraj. Ganga empties itself in Bay of Bengal
Sutlej covers the states of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. Yamuna flows through the states of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh & Delhi state. The area between Indus plain in the west and Ganga plain in the east is the Haryana plain. The Haryana plain is a part of the Himalayan foreland. The Haryana plain has features like paleochannels, old fluvial plains, floodplains, piedmonts, pediments, terminal fans and eolian plains. The whole region is tectonically active. The region between Rohtak fault and Hisar fault forms the epicentre of many earthquakes. It is basically flanked by the Ghaggar and Yamuna river.
Therefore the Haryana plains form the water divide between Sutlej and Yamuna.
Note: The Sutlej river in Punjab and Yamuna canal in Punjab is supposed to be linked by the 214km long Sutlej Yamuna Link Canal. It's a proposed water way which besides carrying water from Punjab to Haryana would fulfill irrigation needs and would make direct shipping from east coast to west coast possible.
