Hint: The Peninsular plateau is the triangular block of land surrounded by Bay of Bengal on one side and Arabian sea on the other. The peninsular plateau is further classified into seven types of minor plateaus like Marwar plateau, Bundelkhand Upland, Meghalaya plateau etc. Central highland is part of the Peninsular plateau and is one such minor plateau. It is the area north of river Narmada and covers most of the Malwa plateau.

Complete answer: Central highlands are drained by Chambal and its tributaries. It is wider in the west and narrower in the east .
Let us look at the options given to us-
Option A- Vindhya range extends from Jobat and Chittorgarh in the west to Sasaram in the east. The range has the Aravallis to its north west and Central highlands in the south. The range acts as a water divide between Ganga basin and basin of rivers of Peninsular plateau.
Option B- Aravali runs across the states of Rajasthan, Haryana, Gujarat and Pakistan’s Punjab and Sindh Province. Rivers like Banas, Luni rise here . Guru Shikhar is the highest peak in the Aravallis.
Option C- Satpura ranges run from Gujarat in the west to Chattisgarh in the east. These ranges run parallel to the Vindhyas.
Option D- Pir Panjal is a mountain range in Lesser Himalayas . It runs across the states of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. Deo Tibba and Indrasan are two important peaks here.

Therefore the correct answer is option A.

Note: One should remember that the Central highlands are also known as Madhya Bharat plateau. It's a rolling plateau. Another point to note is that the Great Boundary Fault separates Aravalis from the Vindhya ranges.
