Hint: Vitamins which we do not need to supply daily are fat soluble. The non-polar hydrocarbon chains containing vitamins are fat soluble.
Complete answer:
We know that vitamins are micronutrients that our body needs in order to develop normally. There are 13 vitamins needed by the body.
These vitamins are divided into two categories depending upon their solubility namely, fat soluble and water soluble.
As we can understand from their name itself, water soluble vitamins are the ones which can be dissolved in water are water soluble and the ones soluble in fat are fat soluble vitamins.
Generally, water soluble vitamins are carried to the body’s tissues but it is not stored in our body and its essential for us to intake these vitamins through daily meals whereas fat soluble vitamins are stored in our body in lipids.
Vitamin C and all the members of vitamin B complex like ${{B}_{6}},{{B}_{12}},{{B}_{1}}\text{, }{{B}_{2}}\text{ etc}\text{. }$ are water soluble vitamins.
Fat soluble vitamins are soluble in lipids and are therefore stored by the adipose tissue, liver and skeletal muscle. Vitamin A, D, E and K are fat soluble and the rest of the vitamins are water soluble. Unlike the water soluble vitamins, we do not need to take vitamin A, D, E and K everyday as excess of these is toxic to our body.
So, the correct answer is “Option B”.
Note: We need vitamin A for formation and maintenance of skin, hair and mucous membrane. Vitamin A deficiency causes night blindness. Vitamin D maintains heart and central nervous system function. Vitamin K plays a major role in blood clotting function and vitamin E protects essential fatty acids from harmful destruction in the body.
