Unit I of the plant was finished in March 1985, with Unit II continuing in March 1986. The development of Unit III was begun in 1986 and finished in March 1991 and Unit IV was begun in 1989 and finished in September 1994, accordingly finishing Stage II. The complete expense of Stage I of the task was Rs. 4,030,000,000 and of Stage II was Rs. 9,830,000,000. The generators were provided by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited and the turbines by Kraftwerk Union AG (KWU) and Mitsubishi. In 1996, further development of the plant was done, with a venture of Rs. 15,450,000,000.
Bellary Thermal Power station is located in Kudatini Village, Bellary District in the Indian territory of Karnataka. Two coal-terminated units of 500 MW each are in activity with a creating limit of 12 million units for every day and a 700 MW coal-terminated unit with the operation. The warm electric force-producing station is controlled by KPCL, an administration of Karnataka undertaking. This electric producing plant is situated at Kudatini town on Hospet - Bellary Street.
