Hint: The atmosphere is transparent to the incoming shortwave radiations, it is translucent to the long wave infrared radiations which are absorbed by the greenhouse gases to make the earth warm this phenomena is known as green house effect.
Complete step by step answer:
-The gases in the atmosphere which are most responsible for keeping the earth's surface warm are called greenhouse gases.
-Some of the greenhouse gases are Carbon Dioxide, methane , CFCs , nitrous oxide and water vapor
-Carbon dioxide , methane , CFCs and nitrous oxide are also termed as radiatively active gases.
-Among the greenhouse gases CO2 is most abundant contributing maximum 60% to the greenhouse effect. The level of CO2in the atmosphere has increased largely due to fossil fuel burning in homes, industries, automobiles etc. deforestation and change in land use.
-Methane consists of 20% of the greenhouse effect. it is produced by the incomplete decomposition of organic matter due to activity of methanogens under anaerobic condition
CFCs are non toxic , non flammable , chemically inert synthetic gaseous compounds of carbon and halogens used in refrigerators, air conditioners, foams, propellants etc. contribute 14% to the greenhouse effect.
So the correct option is D. All of the above
Note:
Nitrous oxide is a source for greenhouse gas contributing about 6% of greenhouse effect. Produced by burning of nitrogen rich fuels , livestock waste breakdown of nitrogen rich fertilizers.
