They are formed by Golgi apparatus and contain almost 60 different types of acid hydrolases which helps in digestion of various materials. So the primary lysosomes are formed from the Golgi sacs. When they are fused with a substance to be digested then they become secondary lysosomes. They may digest materials absorbed from outside the cell by phagocytosis and become phagosomes. The golgi apparatus is a membrane bound cell organelle which is found in most cells. It is responsible for packaging proteins into vesicles prior to secretion and therefore plays a key role in the secretory pathway.
