Hint:Animals are the multicellular eukaryotic organisms that belong to the kingdom Animalia. Animals consume organic material, breathe oxygen, and reproduce. We will analyse all the 4 cases given above in the question and then accordingly conclude the answer for this question.
Complete answer:
Viviparous animals: Viviparous animals are those animals in which both the fertilization (i.e. the fusion of male and female gametes) of egg that results in zygote and development of embryo take place inside the body of the female in the mother's womb. These animals give birth to young ones directly. Examples – mammals such as cows, goats, dogs, humans, etc.
Oviparous animals:Oviparous animals are those animals in which both the process of development of embryos take place outside the body of the female. In oviparous animals fertilization can occur inside the mother’s body or outside the mother’s body.Oviparous animals lay eggs outside their body. Example – birds, hen, frogs, etc.
Case A - In case A Humans and cow are not oviparous animals, they are the viviparous animals. And also Snake and pigeon are not viviparous animals, they are the oviparous animals.
Case B – In case B Hen and snake both are the oviparous animals. Humans are the viviparous animals but crocodiles are the oviparous animals.
Case C – In case C Pigeon and crocodile both are the oviparous animals. And both rat and horse are also the oviparous animals.
Case D – Both toads and Earthworm both are the oviparous animals. Cat is a viviparous animal but a cockroach is not a viviparous animal, it is an oviparous animal.
Therefore, the correctly categorised animals are
Oviparous animals – Pigeon, Crocodile
Viviparous animals – Rat , Horse
Hence, option C is the correct answer.
Note: The eggs laid by the oviparous animals contain the pre mature embryo and yolk. The yolk provides nutrition to the growing embryo. The embryo will develop into a young individual.
