Complete Answer:Plantation agriculture is a kind of commercial agriculture in which a single crop is grown for the whole year. Plantation agriculture requires a large amount of capital and labour. Major crops grown under plantation agriculture are coffee, tea, cashew, sugarcane, banana, cotton and rubber. Malaysia is a major producer of rubber. Brazil is a major producer of coffee. Sri Lanka and our country, India are major producers of tea. A network of transport is very important for plantation farming. Transport network is developed near the area where plant agriculture takes place. Industrial plantation agriculture is established for the production of a high quantity of woods in a short time period. On the other hand, farm or home plantations are established to produce timber and firewood for household use and sometimes for the sale. The establishment of plantation farms will reduce or eliminate the need to use natural forests for the production of woods. There are proposals which encourages the use of plantations to reduce the level of carbon dioxide in the environment in Kyoto Protocol

Note: Plantation is a large scale landholding which is meant for agriculture or farming which specialises in cash crops like coffee, tea, cocoa, opium, sisul, oil seeds and fruits etc.
