First of all we need to know about the goitre disease. This disease is caused due to the abnormal secretion by the thyroid gland and due to the deficiency of Iodine in our body. In this, the thyroid gland gets enlarged on the front and back side of the neck.
Thyroid gland is an Endocrine gland which secretes two hormones directly into the blood which are Thyroxine and Triiodothyronine. These hormones are essential for the cells however, their abnormal secretion can lead to the goitre condition. And even if the hormones are released in less amount, then also it can lead to goitre.
Goitre can be of two types one is hypothyroidism and the other is hyperthyroidism.
It is caused by the deficiency of iodine, so it is treated with an isotope of Iodine (generally $Iodine - 131$ or $Iodine - 123$ ).

Symptoms of Goitre are swelling of neck vein, scratchy voice, tightness in throat etc. In hypothyroidism symptoms can be dry skin, tiredness, weight gain and constipation while in the hyperthyroidism symptoms are rapid heartbeat, shaking, vomiting, diarrhoea, agitation and sweating.
