Time is the progression of events occurring from past to present into the future. The change in state of a physical body is characterised by what we call is time. Time is said to be the fourth dimension of reality, used to describe events in three-dimensional space. We cannot see, feel, smell it, but we can measure its passage.

It is very mathematical in nature. This accords with most people’s everyday experience of how time flows. The main idea of time has its foundation in the second law of thermodynamics which states that with flow of time the state of a body is changed. Here state doesn’t refer to its physical state (solid and fluid).

There are various instruments which are being or were used to measure the flow or passage of time. Earlier, in the Old stone age, humans used to measure time with the help of the moon and sun. The historical devices which were used includes sundial, hourglass etc.

Note:Time is also considered to be the fourth dimension of space.Nowadays an advanced technology is being used that is the atomic clock. It measures time to a very high frequency. SI unit of time is second(s).
