Hint: Polymer is generally a combination of two words known as poly and mer where poly means many and mer refers with parts i.e. many parts as polymers are made up with repeating units of monomers where monomer is single part of any unit.
Complete answer:
Polymers are formed by the process of polymerization. It is the process in which small monomers are joined together through the process of addition polymerization and there are many industrial and other uses of polymers.
Most of the polymers are organic compounds which define these are made up from carbon containing monomers. Silicones are also known as the polymers as these are also having large molecules which are composed of many repeated subunits.
The preparation of silicones is generally carried out by the hydrolysis of dialkyl dichlorosilane or diaryl chlorosilanes. These chlorosilanes are prepared by passing the vapors of $ArCl$ where $RCl$ termed for dialkyl dichlorosilane or $ArCl$ where Ar stands for aryl group and $ArCl$ corresponds to diaryl dichloro silicone over silicon at 570 K by using the catalyst copper where we know that catalyst are those substances which generally do not participate in the reaction but just increase the rate of reaction.
Hence in this way we can explain the preparation of silicones.
Note:
Polymers are of two types named as natural polymers and synthetic polymers. Natural polymers are those which we obtain from nature i.e. from plants and animals whereas synthetic polymers are also known as artificial or man-made polymers i.e. those polymers which are prepared synthetically in a lab by man.
