Hint: Organ of Corti is an organ that is located in the inner part of the ears and is very important for the hearing purpose.

Complete answer:
1)Organ of Corti is also known as the spiral organ that is located in the cochlea of the ear and acts as a receptor organ that helps in hearing.
2)When the sound reaches the inner ear, vibrations occur in the cochlear fluid that causes the
vibrations of the hair cells of the organ of Corti that simulate the organ of Corti to release electrochemical signals which help in sending the auditory signals to the brain.
3)The organ of Corti lies in the cochlea that is between the vestibular duct and the tympanic duct and near the scala media. The basilar membranes of the organ of Corti have hair-like structures that are known as hair cells. There are a total of 3 layers of hair cells out of which two are outer layer hair cells and one is inner layer hair cells. The phalangeal cells separate these two layers of hair cells and also protect those hair cells.

Note: The organ of Corti was discovered by an Italian anatomist Alfonso Giacomo Gaspare Corti in the year 1851. The organ of the Corti is very delicate and can get easily damaged by high levels of sound and this causes impairment of the inner ear and leads to a decrease in sensitivity of the ear and this disorder is irreversible.
