Hint:We know that thermodynamics is an important branch of physics as well as chemistry. It deals with the phenomena happening all around us. It deals with the calculations, generation and transfer of energy that is essential for all the living as well as non-living elements of the universe. Specially plants and animals are existent due to the energy present around us in various forms.

We can say from the roots of the word, thermodynamics, that thermo is related to thermal and it is dealing with temperature whereas the dynamics is related to the dynamics of temperature, how energy transfers or moves and how temperature behaves.
Thus, thermodynamics is the study of heat and temperature. It helps us to know more about how heat and temperature relates to energy and work, how different forms of energy can be transferred from one form to another.
In fact transfer of energy is the heart of the first law of thermodynamics.
The first law of thermodynamics tells us that energy can neither be created nor be destroyed. It can only be converted from one form to another.
According to the second law of thermodynamics, the entropy of the universe only increases. We can define entropy as the disorder of a system. We can also say that the entropy of a closed system only increases.
A closed system is a system that is fully contained that is not interacting with its surroundings. However, the universe is the ultimate closed system!

There is another peculiar law of thermodynamics called the zeroth law of thermodynamics which has to do with thermal equilibrium. The statement of the zeroth law of thermodynamics sounds very obvious and trivial. According to this law, if system 1 is in equilibrium with system 2 and if system 1 is also in equilibrium with system 3, then system 2 is also in equilibrium with system 3.
