Complete answer: POSCO Act was established to safeguard children against crimes like sexual abuse, sexual harassment. It makes it compulsory for reporting of aggravated cases which are defined as abuse of a child by people who are in a position of trust for the child. If the person aware of such cases does not report them, the person can be jailed for six months or fined accordingly. Its full form is Protection of Children from Sexual Offences.
The Act also mentions reporting of false complaints or incorrect information. It also describes punishment to child traffickers who are complained of sexual abuse. It also incorporates information about the judicial process making it child friendly in terms of reporting, recording of evidence, investigation and speedy trial of offences.
The amended POSCO bill was moved for consideration and passage by Women and Child Development minister, Smriti Irani in 2019

Note: The POCSO Act provides for punishment for children under 18 years of age. The Act was introduced by the then Minister of State in the Ministry of Women and Child Development Virendra Kumar.
