Hint: Speed is a scalar quantity and its vector form is known as velocity which is defined with both magnitude and direction. Speed is measured as either average speed for the complete journey or instantaneous speed for that particular time. Speed can also be defined for an interval of time or distance and it can vary with different intervals of time.

Speed is defined as the rate of change of position, what we understand by speed is the magnitude by which an object is moving or scientifically speaking the rate at which an object is changing its position per unit time is known as speed of the object.
Speed is a scalar quantity and hence it does not require any direction. The formula of speed can be given as,
$speed=\dfrac{distance}{time}$
This formula can not be used where we have different speeds for different times and we are asked about total average speed, or if we are asked about speed at that particular instant of time.
Or it can be defined in the form of differentiation as,
$s=\dfrac{dx}{dt}$
Where “x” is the position or distance coordinates and “t” is the time coordinates.
This formula can be used to determine the speed for a particular instant of time.
Note:
The formula in differential form can be used for a very small interval or for a speed which is varying with time. While the normal formula can only be used if we have a constant speed without any acceleration. For basic questions we use the formula $speed=\dfrac{distance}{time}$ and mostly the distance is taken in meters and time is taken in seconds and that gives us the speed in Meter per second.
