Hint:In this question, we have to define what an improper fraction is. So we know the definition of the proper fraction, improper fraction and mixed fraction. To convert the mixture we have to multiply the denominator value to the whole number and then we are going to add the product to the numerator, then it has been converted into an improper fraction. Improper fractions always have numerators greater than denominators.
Complete answer:
This question is based on fractions. A fraction is a number which represents any part of the whole number. It is of the form \[\dfrac{a}{b}\] , where \[a\] is called the numerator while \[b\] is called the denominator. For example, suppose we have a pizza and it is divided into \[4\] parts/ slices. So each part or slice of pizza is one-fourth (i.e. \[\dfrac{1}{4}\]) part of the pizza.
Now fraction can be of two types:
Proper fraction: The fraction in which the numerator is always lesser than the denominator is known as proper fraction. For example, \[\dfrac{1}{4}\], \[\dfrac{2}{4}\], \[\dfrac{3}{4}\] etc. are proper fractions.
Improper fraction: The word improper means ‘not proper’. The fraction in which the numerator is always greater than the denominator is known as improper fraction. For example, \[\dfrac{5}{4}\], \[\dfrac{6}{4}\], \[\dfrac{7}{4}\] are improper fractions.
Note:Improper fraction can also be written in the form of mixed fraction ( i.e. \[1\dfrac{1}{4}\]). A mixed fraction is a fraction which has a whole part and a fraction part. For example, \[1\dfrac{1}{4}\], \[2\dfrac{1}{4}\], \[3\dfrac{1}{4}\] etc. are mixed fractions. To convert an improper fraction into a mixed fraction, we divide the numerator by denominator and write the quotient as the whole number and remainder and the divisor as the numerator and denominator of the fractional part respectively. For example, consider the improper fraction \[\dfrac{5}{4}\]. On dividing \[5\] by \[4\], we get \[1\] as a quotient and \[1\] as a remainder. Thus we write \[\dfrac{5}{4} = 1\dfrac{1}{4}\] in a mixed fraction.
