Hint: The word pulsars was originated from the word “ pulsating star” which is a rapidly spinning neutron star and the remnant of the supernova explosion whereas the quasar was derived from the word “quasi-stellar radio source” and which is in fact the distant galaxy with the fluctuating blaze of the light and other radiations.
Complete answer:
Pulsars are defined as the spinning neutron stars which have jets of the particles and move almost at the speed of the light streaming out above their magnetic poles and the Neutron stars for which we see such pulses are known as the pulsars. It indicates that the source of energy is the rotation of the neutron star.
Pulsars are the highly magnetized rotating neutron stars and are smaller than the Quasars.Quasars are defined as an astronomical object which is of very high luminosity and are found in the centers of some of the galaxies and also powered by gas spiraling which are at high velocity and into an extremely large black hole. They are among the most distant and the known luminous objects. They are extremely powerful and distant active galactic nuclei. They are bigger than the pulsars.
Note: Know the characteristics and the difference between pulsars and quasars. Comparatively, Quasars are more distant than pulsars. Quasars do not have any pulse and rotation. Quasars are associated with black holes while pulsars are not. Also, Pulsars are considered to be newer than quasars.
