Hint: A renewable resource is that resource of energy which never gets depleted and replenished naturally from time to time based upon the requirement through any recurring process or biological reproduction. Common sources of renewable resources are wind, sun, waves, tides, geothermal heat and so on.
Water forms through the ‘water cycle’ which is a recurring process.
Complete step by step answer:
1. Water is a renewable resource of energy. The reason is-
It gets evaporated continuously from the water bodies on the earth’s surface by the sun. Then, it reaches the atmosphere. It forms droplets of water after coming in contact with the water vapour. Gradually, the droplets of water join together and form clouds. After attaining the saturation temperature, they fall as rain on the earth.
This process repeats itself in a cycle. It is known as the ‘water cycle’.
2. This process makes water a renewable resource.
3. Water is very precious. About 96% of the water present on the earth’s surface is saline. Only 3% of the water is fresh and can be used for drinking purposes.
So, the correct option is A.
Note: Though water is renewable, mankind is now facing serious scarcity of water due to its misuse. Many places are predicted to have no ground water table by 2021. So, alternative technologies of saving and purifying waste water have been implemented and used so that this precious liquid replenished.
