Hint:
In this type of question we will use one simple algebraic property which is also known as addition property which is written as any two numbers can be added . For example: if \[a = 2{\text{ }}and{\text{ }}b = 3\], then the value of \[a + b = 5\]. So, we will apply the same property for the given question and try to evaluate our answer.
Complete step by step solution:
As we have state above that the property we are using here is addition property so by applying this property, we get
\[2x + x\]
Taking x as common
\[\begin{array}{l}
= x\left( {2 + 1} \right)\\
= 3x
\end{array}\]
So, we got our required value as \[3x\] using additional property. In this way we can add any two numbers , any two same variables and many more.
Note:
By using additive property we can add \[n\] numbers. We can also add two different variable by using the property, for example: if we want to add \[2x{\text{ }}and{\text{ }}y\], using this property we can write it as \[\left( {2x + y} \right)\]. Same way we can apply subtraction property also but in the place of \[ + \] sign \[ - \] sign is used. But we need to take care while adding two irrational numbers we cannot add them directly instead we can write it in the form of \[a + b\] means the same way we have added two different variables.
