Complete answer:
Tsarevich Alexei was born on 12 August 1904 and he was the chosen heir to the throne of Russia as he was the first and only son of Nicholas and Alexandra. He has been diagnosed with haemophilia since. Haemophilia was present in Alexandra’s family including her mother, Princess Alice. At the time, haemophilia was identified as a fatal condition with life expectancy of age 16 in males.
Out of pain and guilt, the lady decided to keep his condition secret from the people and turned to Russian doctors to treat Alexei. They failed. With no other option in mind, Alexandra turned toward religion for comfort. She studied all the Orthodox rituals and saints, and spent hours daily praying and turned to priests and mediums for help. She approached Grigori Rasputin, a priest and mystic from Siberia, and created a cure for her son and later became a powerful figure in court as a result. He was able to cure her son miraculously. Alexandra became a strict follower and Rasputin took advantage of Alexandra. Later, police informed Alexandra that Rasputin had exposed himself before law.
Rasputin was a self-proclaimed religious wanderer who shared un ethical Khlysty beliefs which pictured him as a man who can be god or stand next to god with his power who spread the ideology which said that a person can reach god through “holy passionlessness”, arising through the sexual exhaustion which followed debauchery. He wasn't a monk but he had the ability to make people believe in him. The royals refused to believe the accusations against Rasputin and those who complained were sent to a remote location or made to abandon their positions in the society. By 1911, the accusations became relevant and got backed up through proofs. This was led to the public assassination of Rasputin

Hence, the correct answer is option (C).

Note:While there is still conflict over the nature of his powers over the health of the child, it is evident that his influence over the Tsarina was considerable. He was involved with appointments to the government, interfered in important decisions. Tsarina believed him no matter what and excuses were always made for his excessive and antisocial behaviour.
