Hint – In this question draw the diagrammatic representation of the clock, 11:45 means that the hour hand will be at 11 and the minute hand will be at 9. First shift the hour hand 3 units clockwise and then the minute hand by 4 units as 1 unit clockwise shift of minute hand formulate 5 minutes, and in total 20 minutes has to be made.
Complete step-by-step answer:
Now we have to find 3h 20 min after 11:45 a.m.
I.e. 11:45 + 3h 20min.
In other words we can write this 11:45 + 3:20
But as we know in the clock after 12 it starts 1, 2, 3..... And time will write in p.m.
p.m...................... (1)
Now as we know 1 hour = 60 min
Therefore 60 min = 1 hour.
So in equation (1) 60 min is converted into 1 hour.
p.m.
So 3h 20 min after 11:45 a.m. is 3:05 p.m.
So this is the required answer.
Note – Whenever we face such type of problems in order to save time we can directly look for a watch nearby, the diagrammatic representation will exactly be the same as that if the clock, the basic concept that 1 hour is composed of 60 minutes and 1 minute is composed of 60 sec helps in application of unitary method in order to the find time in terms of hours, minutes and even seconds.
