The seventh cranial nerve carries nerves that are responsible for the taste of the frontal part of the tongue as well as to produce tears. Its small branches take part in moderating our sensitivity to noise volume.
From the base of the brain or Pons Varolii which is a part of the brain stem the cells that transmit information with the facial nerves originate. It bears geniculate ganglions. To reach the face the nerve must travel through the base of the skull. In this route facial nerve travels in close proximity to the eighth cranial nerve which is known as the vestibulocochlear nerve. The vestibulocochlear nerve is accountable for hearing and balance. The facial nerve makes it exits the base of the skull. After that facial nerve makes entry into the parotid gland and branches into five divisions.
Hence the correct answer is Geniculate ganglion

Option ‘B’ is correct

Note:
The five main branches of the facial nerve anatomy of each nerve are a little bit different. Each of the branches provides assistance to a group of muscles of facial expression. Any injury or impairment in the branches may cause facial paralysis.
