2)Next the sealed lead acid batteries were invented which contain immobilized sulphuric acid electrolyte with decreased leakage and increased shelf life.
3)Later more sealed rechargeable batteries were found which include, nickel-cadmium, nickel- zinc, nickel hydride and lithium-ion cells.lithium-ion batteries are mostly used in mobile phones.

Additional information: There is one more kind of battery called primary battery which cannot be recharged once it gets used up and the battery becomes dead. They are most commonly used in the devices which have low power drain and used when the power supply is away as in case of watches, communication circuits etc. most common examples are,
Zinc carbon battery( it's a dry battery which provide the voltage of around 1.5 v) and
Alkaline battery ( they provide the same voltage but have long shelf life and high energy density.
Note: We have seen our phone batteries (lithium- ion batteries) swell, this might be because of over charging which lead to unwanted reaction between the electrolyte and electrode releasing heat and gases, or may be because of cheap cell quality designed with low cathode to anode stoichiometric ratios.
