Hint: The territory is famous for the historic jail, which was used to imprison revolutionaries, activists, and freedom fighters during the Indian Independence struggle.

Complete answer:
 Active volcanoes are the volcanoes that have erupted recently and they’re likely to erupt again. There are around 500 active volcanoes in the world today (excluding the ones on the ocean floor) and most of them are situated in the Pacific Ring of Fire (Pacific Ocean).
In India, there have been 7 volcanoes, most of which are extinct. The question asks us to find out the active one, so we’ll go through the options once;
1. Maldives is a small archipelagic island country located in South Asia south-west to both India and Sri Lanka, in the Arabian Sea. It is a separate country and not a part of India; therefore isn’t a correct answer.

2. Lakshadweep is a group of around 39 islands which is one of the 8 union territories of India. It doesn’t have any volcanoes, therefore this option is incorrect.

3. This is the correct answer. Andaman and Nicobar Islands are a group of around 572 islands. It has an active volcano, the Barren Island.

4. This is definitely an incorrect option as we have already stated that the active volcano is situated in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
Therefore the answer is 3. Andaman and Nicobar islands

Additional Information
There is another volcano in the Andaman Islands, Narcondam Island which is an inactive volcano. Also, the Islands have been famous for the historic prison, Cellular Jail which was used to imprison the various freedom fighters.

Note:
India’s only active volcano is located in Barren island of Andaman last erupted in 2017; it is also the only active volcano in the entire South Asia.
