Hint: This movement was drawn majorly on the lines of Irish Home Rule Movement and was directioned to incite a feeling of nationalism in the upper class English speaking indians.

Complete answer:
When the 1909 Government of India act failed to satisfy the demands of Freedom Struggle leaders, and in the backdrop of the first world war, began the Indian Home Rule Movement. As we know, this movement lasted around two years from 1916-1918, eventually in 1921 this movement changed its name to Swarajya Sabha.
The stage for this movement was set in 1915 with the rise in political stature of Annie Besant and the Ghadar Mutiny, along with the return of Bal Gangadhar Tilak from exile.
Now we shall proceed to checking all the alternatives, one by one to reach the correct answer.
Option (a), Annie Besant, is the correct answer because, Besant, a member of the Theosophical Society, struggler for the Irish Home Rule Movement, was also a Indian Freedom struggler. Her arrest in 1917 led to nationwide protests.
OPtion (b), Mahatma Gandhi, as we all know, the father of our nation, did not have a very substantial role in the movement but, All India Home Rule League merged with Congress which elected Mahatma Gandhi as its president.
Gopal Krishna Gokhale, option (c), had nothing to do with this movement, hence it is an incorrect alternative.
And lastly, option (d), Mohammed Ali Jinnah, had joined the movement, but did not lead it. So, option (d) is also incorrect.

Note: You must remember that the demand of Home Rule or Self Governance was backed by a lot of leaders including MA Jinnah, but the movement was under the leadership of Mrs. Annie Besant only.
