Hint: Learn how to connect any circuit element in a physical circuit. How to connect the terminals of a circuit element to a circuit to solve this problem. The current in any circuit flows from the positive terminal to the negative terminal of the circuit. The voltage drop of a circuit is equal to the emf of the cell or battery of the circuit for zero internal resistance.

Complete answer:
We have given here four cells to connect with wires and make a battery. Now, if we connect the cells in series the voltage drop across the terminal of a load will be four times the emf of each cell. And if connected in parallel the Voltage drop will be the same as the one cell each. So, we can connect in any mode.

Now, for series mode we have to connect the negative terminal of one cell to the positive terminal of another to complete the connection hence the connection is given in the below figure.

For parallel mode we have to connect all the negative terminals at one end and at the other end we have to connect all the positive terminals to complete the connection. The connection is given in the below figure.

Additional information: The ohm’s law is given by, \[V = IR\] where,\[V\] is the voltage across the circuit component \[I\] is the current through the circuit and \[R\] is the resistance of the element \[R\].
Equivalent capacitance of resistance connected in series is given by,
\[{R_{eq}} = {R_1} + {R_2} + {R_3} + ...\]
The equivalent resistance in a parallel circuit is given by, \[\dfrac{1}{{{R_{eq}}}} = \dfrac{1}{{{R_1}}} + \dfrac{1}{{{R_2}}} + ....\] where, \[{R_{eq}}\] is the equivalent resistance of the circuit and \[{R_1}\] ,\[{R_2}\]… are the resistances connected in parallel.

Note: The polarity of any circuit is a very important thing to keep in check when synthesizing a circuit any incorrect connection will lead to improper behaviour of the circuit or may not even work. So, keep in mind to check the polarity of each connection while making the circuit.
