Hint:Sustainable development is that form of development that meets the need of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Sustainable development should be given prime importance.

Complete answer:
Sustainable development demands that future generations have no less of the means to their needs than we do ourselves.
Economic development has been achieved compromising environmental stability. Unchecked and uncontrolled human activities have led to the depletion of many environmental resources. Pollution has surpassed the alarming rates. As a result, the present population is suffering the consequences and the future generation will also bear the brunt of environmental crises.
For sustainable development, it requires that there must be a sustained rise in per capita income and economic welfare.
Sustainable development can be achieved by
1.Implementation of measure to control population growth to curb the over-utilization of environmental resources
2. use of renewable resources like solar, wind, tidal energy that would decrease the burden on non-renewable resources
3.Use of LPG and gobar gas in rural areas which will reduce the dependency of rural households on wood, cow dung and biomass, decreasing the adverse impact of deforestation
4.Use of CNG in urban areas that would bring down the pollution levels
Segregation of waste that would dispose of hazardous waste and recycle the non-hazardous ones

Note:There are many ways to achieve sustainable development such as population control measures, use of renewable resources, LPG and biomass in rural areas and CNG in urban areas and segregation of waste before dumping.
