Hint: We will first find the investment amount done by each of them individually. Now, we will just apply profit on their individual money by 20% and then get the required answer.
Complete step-by-step answer:
Since, we are given that they invested in 4 : 5. That means they totally invested 4 + 5 that is 9 shares overall out of which 4 are invested by Suresh and 5 are invested by Ramesh.
Now, we know that we can get individual’s investment by using the following formula:-
Investment by individual is given by $\dfrac{{Ratio}}{{Total}} \times Amount$ where ratio stands for individual’s portion of investment, total means total number of shares invested and amount is the total amount invested.
Therefore, Suresh’s Investment will be given by $Rs.\dfrac{4}{9} \times 144000$.
On simplifying it, we will get that Suresh’s investment is Rs. 64000.
Now, let us similarly fid the investment done by Ramesh.
So, Ramesh’s Investment will be given by $Rs.\dfrac{5}{9} \times 144000$.
On simplifying it, we will get that Suresh’s investment is Rs. 80000.
Now, they both got the profit of 20%.
So, profit is given by the formula we need to multiply the profit% to the amount and divide it by 100.
So, Suresh’s profit will be $Rs.\dfrac{{20}}{{100}} \times 64000 = Rs.12800$.
Hence, he had the profit of Rs. 12800.
Now, Ramesh’s profit will be given by $Rs.\dfrac{{20}}{{100}} \times 80000 = Rs.16000$.
Suresh received a profit of 12800Rs and Ramesh received a profit of 16000Rs.
Note: The students must note that they could have made the following changes to the solution:- While getting the investment done by Ramesh, we could have just subtracted Suresh’s investment from the total amount invested by both of them combined together.
